WhisperChat for WordPress

WordPress plugin

Your chatbot on WordPress, without touching a theme file

Install the WhisperChat plugin, paste one Bot ID and your chatbot appears on your WordPress site. It answers from the same knowledge base as your other channels, captures leads into your dashboard, and comes off again with a single checkbox.

Before you start
  • A WhisperChat chatbot that has been trained at least once — the plugin embeds that chatbot, it does not create one.
  • The Chat widget switched on for that chatbot, on its Deploy page. Integrations stay locked until it is.
  • A WordPress site you can install plugins on: WordPress 5.2 or newer, PHP 7.2 or newer.

Set it up in seven steps

Everything below happens in two places: your chatbot's Deploy page in WhisperChat, and the plugin screen in your WordPress admin.

  1. 1

    Turn on the Chat widget

In your dashboard, open the chatbot and go to Deploy. Switch on Embed ChatBot — this is what makes the chatbot embeddable anywhere, WordPress included.

  2. 2

    Copy your Bot ID

Still on Deploy, open the WordPress card and press Manage. Copy the Bot ID shown there; it is the only value the plugin needs.

  3. 3

    Install the plugin

In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New and search for WhisperChat, or download the zip and upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

  4. 4

    Activate it

Press Activate on the Plugins page. Nothing is added to your site yet — the plugin stays inert until you give it a Bot ID.

  5. 5

    Paste the Bot ID

Open Settings → WhisperChat, tick the option that enables the chatbot and paste the Bot ID you copied.

  6. 6

    Choose where it appears

The same screen lets you show the chatbot on the public site, inside the WordPress admin, or both. Most sites only want the frontend.

  7. 7

    Save and reload your site

Save the settings and open your site in a new tab. The chat bubble appears in the corner and answers from the same knowledge base as everywhere else.

If you run a caching or optimisation plugin, purge its cache after saving — a cached page will not include the widget.

What the plugin gives you

The plugin loads the standard WhisperChat widget, so a WordPress visitor gets exactly what a visitor on any other site gets.

No theme edits

The plugin injects the widget for you, so nothing goes into header.php and nothing breaks when your theme updates.

One knowledge base

WordPress visitors get the same answers as your other channels. Train once; every surface stays in sync.

Frontend, admin, or both

Show the chatbot to visitors, to logged-in staff inside wp-admin as an internal helper, or to everyone.

Leads land in your dashboard

Names, emails and phone numbers left in the chat are captured as leads and appear under History, Insights and Leads.

Bookings without a plugin stack

If your chatbot offers a Cal.com booking link, visitors can schedule a meeting straight from the chat window.

Off in one click

Untick the enable option in the plugin settings and the widget disappears sitewide. Your chatbot and its history are untouched.

Rather not install anything? Deploy → Embed ChatBot gives you a snippet you can paste into a theme, a page builder block or a custom HTML widget. It is the same chatbot either way.

When something is off

Nearly every WordPress report comes down to one of these four things.

The widget does not appear

  • Check that the chatbot is enabled in Settings → WhisperChat and the Bot ID matches the one on the Deploy page exactly — no spaces around it.
  • Check that Embed ChatBot is still switched on for that chatbot. Turning it off disables every embed at once.
  • If you restricted domains under the chatbot's Settings, your WordPress domain has to be on that list.
  • Purge any page cache or CDN cache after changing plugin settings.

It shows in the wrong place

  • The display options in the plugin settings decide whether the widget renders on the public site, in the WordPress admin, or in both.
  • To keep the chatbot on a subset of pages, use the Allowed Pages field in your chatbot's Settings — it accepts full URLs or path prefixes, one per line.

Answers are wrong or missing

  • That is a training question rather than a WordPress one: add the missing pages or documents as knowledge sources and retrain.
  • Your WordPress content is not crawled automatically. Add your site URL as a knowledge source if you want the chatbot to read it.

You cannot install plugins

  • WordPress.com's free and lower tiers do not allow plugin installs. Use the embed snippet from Deploy → Embed ChatBot instead — it is the same widget, pasted as HTML.
  • Self-hosted WordPress and plans that allow custom plugins work normally.
